Biography

Dr. Chaoming Wang is a principal investigator at GDIIST and leads the Digital Brain Laboratory. He received his B.E. from Beijing Jiaotong University, his Ph.D. from Peking University, and was a Boya Postdoctoral Fellow at Peking University.

His research focuses on software, algorithms, and computational models for large-scale brain simulation. He has published over 10 papers in Nature Communications, eLife, Cell Reports, ICLR, and others, and holds multiple Chinese invention patents.

He has developed several open-source brain dynamics frameworks: BrainPy (eLife 2023; ICLR 2024), BrainUnit/SAIUnit (Nature Communications 2025), BrainTrace (Nature Communications 2026), applied to multi-scale brain modeling (Cell Reports 2024).

His work is supported by the China Brain Project (STI 2030) and won the OpenI Outstanding Project Award two years running (2021, 2022). He leads grants from the China Postdoctoral Fund and NSFC, and was awarded a Tier-1 rating in China's national postdoctoral assessment.
